Pay by invoice

Final invoices when the order is placed, for orders that are paid later.

Normally the invoice is created once an order is paid. For orders that are paid later – for example by bank transfer after invoice or with Shopify payment terms – the app can create the final invoice when the order is placed.

Setup

Under Settings › Advanced › Pay by invoice:

  1. Turn on Allow invoices before payment. Without it, the app creates invoices only for paid orders, also when creating them by hand.
  2. Turn on Create the invoice automatically when the order is placed if the app should do it by itself.
  3. Decide how the app recognizes pay by invoice – at least one of:
    • Payment methods for pay by invoice, for example your manual payment method “Invoice”,
    • Tags for pay by invoice,
    • Include orders with Shopify payment terms, for example draft orders with “Net 30”.

The start date For orders from applies. If values are set under Limit the automation, they apply as well.

Due date

If the order has Shopify payment terms, the app uses their due date. Otherwise your Payment term in days applies. Payment terms with several due dates are held for review. Unpaid invoices also show a payment request.

What the app does not do

The app sends no payment reminders and creates no pro forma invoices. You check incoming payments in Shopify or in your accounting.
