Real e-invoices
Every final invoice is a PDF/A-3 file with embedded ZUGFeRD/Factur-X XML in the EN 16931 profile. A validation report shows that the e-invoice meets the format and business rules.
Shopify app from Mainz, Germany – for merchants in the EU
From your start date, Invoice Autopilot creates the invoice for paid orders and the credit note for refunds – without duplicates, unclear cases for review – as a PDF/A-3 with embedded ZUGFeRD XML (EN 16931). Every final document is technically validated before release.

Invoices should simply be right. The app takes over the routine and stops before anything wrong is created.
Every final invoice is a PDF/A-3 file with embedded ZUGFeRD/Factur-X XML in the EN 16931 profile. A validation report shows that the e-invoice meets the format and business rules.
If your company or order details are missing or a tax case is unclear, the app does not assign an invoice number. It shows you the reason and the next step.
Refunds against a finished invoice from the app get their own credit note linked to the original invoice automatically; amounts already covered by a cancellation or correction credit note are not credited twice. Cases the app cannot attribute safely are shown to you for review. Optionally also for cancellations and reduced orders.
Documents appear on the Shopify order as a block, when printing and as an action. Your customers download them in their account.
Export a package with all PDF and XML files and a CSV list for your accountant every month.
Settings in English and German, with clear defaults and plain hints instead of jargon.

From DACH, for DACH
Invoice Autopilot is built in Germany for Shopify merchants in the German-speaking region (DACH: Germany, Austria, Switzerland). We know the rules it handles from running a shop ourselves.
E-invoices to EN 16931, separate sequential number ranges, credit notes that reference the original invoice and a monthly export for your accountant.
The app detects reverse charge to businesses in other EU countries and exports for sellers based in the EU – including merchants in Austria.
Admin, docs and support in German or English. Invoices in German or, if you prefer, English, French, Italian, Dutch or Spanish.
The technology behind Invoice Autopilot already creates the invoices of a German Shopify shop in live operation.
Merchants in Switzerland: the app does not yet cover Swiss specifics such as the QR-bill.
Name, address, tax number or VAT ID – the app shows you what is still missing.
From that day on, paid orders get their invoice automatically, within your filters. Review older orders page by page and invoice them deliberately.
Invoices and credit notes are created on their own; the app shows exceptions with the next step. Customers find their documents in their account; you export them monthly for your bookkeeping.
Everything you need for clean documents from Shopify.
Since 1 January 2025, businesses in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices. Issuing has a transition period: from 2027, businesses with more than €800,000 prior-year turnover must generally issue e-invoices to other domestic businesses, and from 2028 generally all businesses must.
Exceptions include invoices from small businesses under the German small-business rule, small-value invoices up to €250 gross and invoices to consumers. A PDF with embedded ZUGFeRD XML in the EN 16931 profile is an accepted format if the invoice is correct in content and form. Invoice Autopilot checks the technical side before every release.

So you know up front:
For Shopify merchants based in the EU, especially in Germany, Austria and neighbouring countries. The app detects export and reverse charge automatically for sellers in the EU.
The app does not invoice them on its own. You can review older orders page by page and create invoices deliberately.
In the new customer account, on the order status page and through a link you add to your Shopify notifications with a Liquid snippet.
No. The app reserves the number only when it creates the final document and only when company and order details are complete. If the technical creation fails after that, the number stays reserved and the retry uses the same number.
German, English, French, Italian, Dutch or Spanish. The app itself is in German and English.
